National Prevention Week and FSF

National Prevention Weekth until May 23rd. Family Service Foundation, Inc. is happy to be hosting a Choose Recovery event on May 22nd in honor of National Prevention Week. National Prevention Week is known to have three main goals. These goals are:

  1. Resource Sharing: To make publications and resources regarding behavioral health readily available for those who are interested or in need
  2. Partner Engagement: To create bonds and partnerships between national organizations and federal agencies that have made the commitment to public and behavioral health
  3. Community Involvement: To get communities involved in handling, managing, and preventing behavioral health issues

National Prevention Week is held on the third week of May to allow schools to participate in events as well. One of the major age brackets that the program wishes to help are those in grade school, so having the school support helps with the efforts. Throughout the nation, schools and communities hold a number of different events to spread the word and gain support for behavioral health issues as well as substance abuse issues. The week is a starting point and building block for a more solid support system within the community when facing these issues. The Family Service Foundation, Inc. event will be taking place on May 22nd from 12:00pm until 6:00pm at their main Landover Hills location. Family Service Foundation, Inc. has been serving the greater Maryland area since 1942. This nonprofit organization is here to help Maryland residents across a span of different areas such as mental health, developmental disabilities, substance abuse problems, and interpretation for deaf and deaf-blind individuals.
