Developmental Disabilities Services

Family Service Foundation (FSF) provides services that focus on each person’s needs and goals, aiming to improve their lives and contribute to the community. We serve individuals with different abilities and believe that everyone can achieve their goals. FSF is dedicated to offering choices to our clients and helping them learn to be independent at home, in the community, and at work. We achieve this through two main programs: Community Living Services and Meaningful Day Services.

Community Living Services

Community Living – Group Homes: FSF manages homes in Prince George’s, Baltimore, and Frederick Counties. We offer support for independent living skills within the home, based on each individual’s needs and preferences. This includes skills like cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting, nutrition, and hygiene. We also help with finding and joining community activities. Health and medical needs are a priority, and our staff, trained by registered nurses, ensure all medical needs are met, including administering medication and attending medical appointments.

    Personal Supports

FSF provides drop-in services to help individuals living on their own or with family to develop independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and shopping. We also help with fitness, travel training, and community integration by connecting individuals with community resources and social networks. Our goal is to help clients become as independent as possible.

      Meaningful Day Services

Employment Services: We assist individuals in finding and maintaining community-based, paid jobs they choose. Through this process, we help them discover their skills and interests. We offer support with resume development, interview preparation, job coaching, and ongoing follow-up. When needed, we work with employers to create customized job opportunities.

Community Development Services: This program helps individuals learn to navigate their communities safely and independently. Activities include using public transportation, identifying employment paths, volunteering, and participating in community events. Clients are supported in practicing social skills and are taken out into the community for these activities.

Day Habilitation Services: We offer community-based programs where clients are picked up from home and taken to our day program sites. They then engage in community activities such as picnics, movies, exercise, and volunteering. The focus is on building social skills and integrating into the community. Transportation is provided for these services.

In summary, Family Service Foundation is committed to helping individuals with disabilities achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives in their communities.
